Training & Capacity Building

In 2025, CRSI conducted two trainings. One was with CXOs of sugar mills, and the other was a capacity-building workshop with the sugar industry on Sustainable Aviation Fuel production. The aim was to develop practical training programs for executives in the sustainability space, mill employees, farmers and farm workers, and contractors on responsible business conduct. Key focus areas include human rights and labour due diligence, occupational health and safety, ethical recruitment, sustainable agriculture, and grievance-redressal systems.

  • Sugar Mills CXO Roundtable (9th June 2025): CRSI hosted a roundtable with senior executives from sugar mills to discuss responsible business priorities and share CRSI’s vision and action plan. The meeting covered ESG compliance, labour due diligence, and operational efficiency. Participants shared practical examples of mills improving worker safety, managing migration responsibly, and integrating sustainability into daily operations.
  • Capacity Building Workshop for Enhancing Sugar Industry Readiness for SAF Production (7-8 October 2025): The capacity building workshop was organized by Indian Sugar & Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) to strengthen the preparedness of India’s sugar industry for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production through targeted capacity building, knowledge sharing on ICAO-CORSIA standards, and engagement with global certification agencies. By enabling technical readiness across the value chain, the workshop lays the foundation for India to emerge as a leading supplier of low-carbon, sugarcane-based SAF.
