The Coalition for Responsible Sugarcane India (CRSI) is a multi-stakeholder initiative dedicated to embedding and promoting responsible and sustainable business practices throughout India’s sugarcane value chain.
Sugarcane farming in India is the source of livelihood for 55 million Indian farmers and farm labourers and has played a critical role in the empowerment of India’s rural sector in the last few decades.
The Coalition for Responsible Sugarcane India (CRSI) is designed to leverage the transformational capacity of sugarcane in India as an agent of change working collaboratively with leading stakeholders to co-design and implement its long-term strategy, governance systems, and on-the-ground activities. Our vision is to address these challenges by fostering responsible and sustainable practices across the entire sugarcane supply chain in India.
CRSI brings together civil society groups, international sustainability standards organisations, global brands, local businesses, and relevant industry groups. By leveraging our collective market power, practical insights, responsible business expertise, and business and human rights knowledge, we aim to drive systemic change within the Indian sugarcane supply chain for the benefit of the industry, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable stakeholders.
