Transforming India's sugarcane industry through sustainable practices, responsible business conduct, and commitment to positive change.
OUR FOUNDATION
The cornerstone of our commitment to transform India’s sugarcane industry through collaborative action and sustainable practices.
A collaborative multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to embed and promote responsible and sustainable business practices across India’s sugar value chain.
To provide a collaborative platform to drive systemic change through dialogue and evidence-based actions. The coalition aims to pilot and scale innovative measures in the interface of business and human rights, including gender and other
sustainability issues.
Our work is guided by a set of core values that shape our approach and define our culture of collaboration and innovation.
We actively involve diverse voices across the value chain farmers, mills, suppliers, and partners—to ensure inclusive and meaningful participation.
We work to build capacity and resilience in local communities, ensuring they have the tools and voice to lead sustainable transformation.
We believe in building strong, connected networks where collaboration and shared ownership drive innovation and long-term impact.
We use data, research, and shared insights to inform decisions, measure progress, and create scalable, impactful solutions.
We champion creative, practical approaches that respond to real-world challenges, encouraging new thinking for positive change.
We operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability—building trusted relationships that last beyond individual projects.
OUR APPROACH
We’ve identified four key areas of focus that guide our work and enable us to create meaningful impact across the sugarcane value chain.
Leading sugar sector stakeholders have come together as the Steering Committee to develop the operational strategy of this coalition.
Piloting and scaling on-ground target driven outcome-oriented activities involving multiple stakeholders for the benefit of farm workers, small holder farmers and communities.
Training and workshops for sugar sector stakeholders including building the capacity of mills, small holder farmers, labour brokers, farm workers, and communities on responsible business conduct and the principles of sustainable sugarcane.
Technology enabled tools and systems; action-based applied research; providing a platform for ongoing engagement and dialogues with workers, communities and their legitimate representatives, and conducting events with stakeholders at national, state and local levels.
